Halloween 2011 at the Joggins Fossil Centre

We had another great turnout on Sunday for our annual Halloween Party, despite the unwelcome weather. Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo put on an exciting and educational show with their wide array of reptiles and amphibians including an alligator snapping turtle, a boa constrictor and a caiman. We also gave out treat bags to all and the person with the most creative costume also got a gift certificate good for the movies. Thanks to all who were in attendance and we’ll see you next year!

More Great feedback and a New Addition to the Official Collection

It’s always good to hear feedback from visitors to the Joggins Fossil Cliffs and Centre. Chris Burnley from Nanaimo, BC had these comments to say about his family’s recent visit: “We really enjoyed our visit to Joggins –the display was excellent and our beach walk with Tammy was fascinating. Being able to see so many fossils in place and to learn about them was a real treat. Thanks … and all the best with the great work you are doing at Joggins. We’ll definitely visit again the next time we are back in the Maritimes”. Erin, Chris’ daughter, made a fascinating fossil discovery and because she showed a member of our interpretive staff, the fossil was added to the official Collection: a perfect example of how visitors can contribute to the science at the Joggins Fossil Institute. Good job Erin and thanks for the great feedback, Chris. In the photograph below is Erin Burnley (right) and her brother, Jacob, with Erin’s fossil discovery.
