Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up Success!

We had a beautiful day to clean-up the beach! We collected over 15 large bags of garbage and recyclables. Most of the waste was: plastic bags, rope, strapping bands, and food wrappers. Watch this space for our total tally and more pictures!

Our beach clean-up was successful thanks to:

- Denise Dickinson and the River Hebert Elementary grades 5/6

- Pam Harrison for her enthusiasm in helping to organize

- All the chaperones for driving and participating in the clean-up

- The River Hebert Co-op for participating in the clean-up and for donating food to our BBQ lunch

- John Reid for donating gloves and garbage bags

- Chris from Tantramar Interactive (he produced our lovely website!)

A new scientific paper has just been released in the journal Ichnos that highlights a find by local resident, Gloria Melanson: http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/gich20/current.

Find the publishing company's news release on this paper, with a quotation about the find from Gloria, here: http://www.alphagalileo.org/ViewItem.aspx?ItemId=123934&CultureCode=en

This very small but significant fossil will be on display at the Joggins Fossil Centre until October 31, 2012.
