For those of you travelling to visit us in Joggins tomorrow (Friday, July 29th), there will be a detour as a railway crossing in Maccan where Highway 302 meets Highway 242 is being closed for maintenance from 12 noon until 12 midnight. Visitors coming from Amherst will continue on Highway 302 to Newville and turn right on to Boars Back Road (the majority of this road is unpaved) and travel through to River Hebert and on to Joggins (see map). Those visitors travelling from Parrsboro will also detour through Boars Back Road. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The objective behind this is to celebrate people’s action to sustainably manage the world’s forests and to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. Third Anniversary of World Heritage Inscription for the Joggins Fossil Cliffs.
Thursday, July 7th is the 3rd anniversary of World Heritage Inscription for the Joggins Fossil Cliffs. To help us celebrate, Community Forests International (http://forestsinternational.org/) will be planting 200 trees around the Joggins Fossil Centre to aid in our brownfield remediation program. Stop by and check out their exhibit in the Centre. Also, this day only, you can get a discounted Green Building Tour of the Centre as well. For more information about this and other events happening at the Joggins Fossil Centre and Cliffs, please visit http://www.jogginsfossilcliffs.net/visitors/WhatsHappening.php
Local Graduate Wins Bursary
Congratulations to recent River Hebert High School graduate, Jenna Porter. Jenna was the proud recipient of a $200 bursary from the Joggins Fossil Institute. The money for the bursary was collected through the Institute’s Casual Friday’s when staff can wear blue jeans for a $1 donation. Well done, Jenna!

Canada Day at Joggins!
Happy Canada Day everyone! The Joggins Fossil Centre once again participated in the town's parade organized by the Joggins Volunteer Fire Department. Our new addition to this year's parade were model trees to help celebrate the UN's International Year of Forests and trees, of course, are one of the famous fossils found on the Cliffs!
